The Bauer's First Family Vacation...

We survived our first Family Vacation!  We went to Narragansett, Rhode Island.  A place that my side of the family has vacationed for years.  It was the first time that I have been back to Rhode Island since my mom passed away 6 years ago.  It was also Bob and Warren's first time going and the first time my family got to meet Warren.  We left on my birthday and had a great flight.  Warren did so well.  We fed him as the plane departed and then he fell asleep after his bottle.  We flew into Providence, rented a car, drove to Narragansett, and picked the keys up for our rental house.

The week went by fast.  We started the week by eating dinner in Galilee, its a village inside the city of Narragansett. Galilee is known for fishing, boating, beaches and, of course, seafood restaurants.  We also spent a day in Newport another coastal town in Rhode Island.  Many days were spent on Scarborough beach.  One day the three of us went to Galilee and the Salty Brine Beach, then grabbed some lunch at Chaplins.  It was the most delicious lobster and shrimp that we have ever eaten.  I highly recommend that restaurant, plus the prices are reasonable. We also ate at Aunt Carrie's and went and had ice cream a couple of times.  Our last day after we said our good bye's we ate at Iggy's.  Which is across the street from Aunt Carries.  I have never eaten there.  It was amazing.  Another great restaurant to try!

I think that sums up our trip!  It was such a great week.  I loved seeing my family!  We are looking forward to next summer!

Happy Homecoming Day!

One year ago we brought Warren home after a 45 day NICU stay.  He came home with no oxygen or monitors and weighed 4 lbs 6 ounces.  He was 35 weeks gestation, full term pregnancies are 40 weeks.  It's hard to believe how far he has come.  He weighs about 15 lbs 8 ounces now.  Warren's favorite activities are crawling everywhere, closing doors, playing with cat food/water and he loves putting his toys in or on different things.  I always find his toys in the laundry basket or in random places around the house.  This past year has been incredibly challenging but watching Warren grow has been so amazing.  I love him more than anything, he's an awesome son :-)

Warren turns "1"!!

May 21, 2010 @ 10:37AM, Warren Joseph Bauer was born weighing 2 lbs 8 ounces, 15 3/4 inches.  He is now "1" year old, 9 months adjusted.  He now weighs 14 lbs 8 ounces, is about 28 inches.  Some new things that happened this month are, he sprouted 2 new teeth, top 2 front.  He can go from laying down to sitting up and he can sit up in his bed like a big boy.  He also started bearing weight on his legs and loves to pull himself up with our help.  And on Monday May 30, he started crawling.  It is the cutest little crawl that I have ever seen.  I will post videos of it soon.  PT has helped him so much.  It is amazing how strong this little man is getting :-)

We had his birthday party at Bob's parents house.  The weather was perfect, we have had a ton of rain lately and thankfully the day of his party it was beautiful.  For lunch we had hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, pasta salad, and beans.  And for dessert, birthday cake :-)  It was a great day and Warren had a great time.  This has been quite the year.  Warren is doing amazing and meeting most of his milestones within the normal range for his adjusted age.  Below are some of the pictures from his party.

Camping with the Bauer's

It's officially summer here in Michigan.  Every year for the past 5 years during Memorial Day weekend, Bob and I have gone camping so its time to take the little man with us.  We rented a 2 room cabin at the Port Huron KOA, which is about 45 minutes away.  We weren't quite sure if everything would fit in the car but it magically did.  We have had better years than this one but we made the best of it.  It unfortunately rained every single day we were there but no day was a complete wash out.  We were only able to make a couple of fires but it worked.  At first Warren wasn't sure what to make of the new surroundings but by the 2nd and 3rd day he was happy and used to the campsite.  Bob's parents and brother Jimmy came up and visited us on Sunday which was a lot of fun.  We're hoping to go camping at least one more time this summer.  It's a nice little getaway for all of us.

It all fit!
